Automotive Technology

Students in this program will receive the appropriate amount of training and knowledge to begin entry level employment and/or a post secondary automotive program. The Automotive Technology curriculum is designed with National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) requirements, a nationally recognized industry standard.

Automotive I

Students in Automotive I begin by covering all aspects of shop safety, including the tools and how to use them, laying the groundwork for a safe work environment. From there, we delve in to the fundamentals of our trade which includes but is not limited to:

  • Maintenance & Light Repair

  • Brakes

  • Steering & Suspension

  • Tires

  • Intro to Welding

  • Intro to Oxyacetylene Torches

  • Maine State Inspection

Automotive II

Students entering Automotive II will review the components of Automotive I, and then dive in to understanding how some of the more complex systems work, and more importantly, how to diagnose them when components fail. Throughout the year we will cover:

  • Engine Operation

  • Engine Performance

  • Transmissions (manual & automatic)

  • Electrical

  • Electronic

  • Diagnostics

  • Maine State Inspection License
